2025 Ford Explorer Active vs 2025 Ford Explorer ST-Line

Serving Livonia, MI

The popularity of the midsize Ford Explorer SUV was well-established several decades ago. It has maintained its appeal thanks to thoughtful evolution across six generations. The 2025 Ford Explorer is a mid-generation model that introduces a fresh look to the interior and exterior. Some trims also benefit from BlueCruise hands-free driving for the first time. In 2025, the first two of the Explorer’s four trim levels are the Active and the ST-Line. How do these trim levels compare in essential areas?

Performance

The 2025 Ford Explorer Active and ST-Line are comparably equipped under the hood. They both draw 300 horsepower from a four-cylinder, turbo 2.3-liter gas engine. In addition, they are both outfitted with a 10-speed auto transmission and rear-wheel drive. You can upgrade to an all-wheel drivetrain.

Appearance

The 2025 Explorer continues to have a tall yet subtly rounded nose, a flat roof, and sweeping, angled accents over the door panels. At the front, the grille is reshaped and now has a scale-style mesh pattern. The pointed headlights that connect to the grille are outlined by LED light. At the rear, the thick bumper and unique, pronged taillights add a modern touch. The 2025 Explorer Active’s exterior is outfitted with 18-inch wheels, a Class III hitch, keyless entry, LED exterior lighting, and a power liftgate. The ST-Line builds on these features with 20-inch wheels, a black grille, dark exterior lighting, and black lower-body cladding.

Features

Select the 2025 Ford Explorer Active. Your SUV will have a six-speaker sound system, Google-based tech, a wireless smartphone app connection, a three-zone climate control system, heated front seats, forward collision mitigation, and others. Options for the Active include a remote engine start, a heated steering wheel, and synthetic leather material. The ST-Line adds BlueCruise, a surround-view camera, parking sensors, a B&O sound system with ten speakers, black leather seats with red stitching, and adaptive cruise control. Options include massaging front seats, power-folding third-row seats, heated second-row seats, a powered steering column, a wireless charger, interior ambient lights, and sunshades.
