Bill Brown Cares is proud to sponsor & partner with Passport to Safety, a local summer event in Livonia, Michigan, that focuses on teaching kids how to be safe while having fun. Here at Bill Brown Ford, we believe that every child deserves a safe environment and access to the resources and education to thrive out of harm’s way. We’re so excited to team up with Passport to Safety. Guests have the opportunity to visit ten stations, learning age-appropriate tips around the following station topics:

911 Training

At this station, kids will have a chance to sit across from live police emergency dispatchers and learn when and how to make a 911 emergency phone call. After some basic information about what 911 is and why it is essential to know, kids will have a chance to put what they’ve learned into action.

Automobile Safety

Technicians will provide automobile safety tips on anchoring car seats while teaching about seat belt placement. Police will also demonstrate the impact of car crashes with model cars.

Bike Safety

Children (5-14 years) will have the opportunity to learn about bike safety while being individually fitted for a complimentary bike helmet (quantities limited). After, kiddos can test their skills on a bike safety test track.

Choking & Poisoning

Kids will learn the correct way to save someone who is choking and how to identify poisonous and non-poisonous household items.

Internet Safety

At this station, families will learn about Michigan’s OK2SAY, an initiative to teach children that it’s ok to report suspicious behavior at school or at home. The station will also provide parents with resources on internet safety.

First Aid Kit

Families will learn about and make a small first aid kit with healthcare professionals.

Fire Safety

Families will learn about fire safety skills at home and how to rescue victims of a car accident. The Livonia Fire and Rescue will demonstrate how to extricate victims from vehicles.

Food Safety

This station will be devoted to the safe handling of food, from the grocery store to food preparation.

Got2B Safe

Police officers will be teaching children the basics of who you can trust and the four safety rules.

Water Safety

Children will have the chance to interact with lifeguards certified by Livonia Parks and Recreation Department to learn more about safety in the water.

This year’s Passport to Safety event will be held on Saturday, June 11th, from 10 am – 2 pm at the Livonia Police Department (15050 Farmington Rd, Livonia, MI 48154). No ticket or pre-registration required—safety and entertainment in a family atmosphere. Enjoy a schedule of demos, events, raffles, and giveaways. We hope you’ll come out and join us!
