The 2021 Ford Escape Offers Plug-in Hybrid Capability

The 2021 Ford Escape is already an exciting new SUV for Livonia drivers to check out at Bill Brown Ford, and now there is another reason to be excited for your visit to our dealership. New for 2021, you can have the Ford Escape as a plug-in hybrid SUV, giving you greater flexibility and fuel economy to help you make the most of every mile.

The Plug-in Hybrid Powertrain

The PHEV Ford Escape model will be using a four-cylinder gasoline engine along with an electric motor to give you the power and range needed for your longest road trips. You can use both motors together to help stretch your fuel economy and enjoy incredible range, or you can rely on electric power alone to help save fuel costs during your daily commute. Those with short commutes can likely operate on EV power alone, as the new Ford Escape offers up to 37 miles of range before needing the gasoline engine to take over. That means you can save your fuel for when you really need it, and simply find a charging stating near the office to help power your drive home.

Combined output of the plug-in hybrid powertrain is 200 horsepower and 155 pound-feet of torque, putting the new Ford Escape hybrid in a respectable position where overall performance is concerned. The electric motor can cruise at up to 80 mph before the gasoline engine has to take over, though this speed will reduce your EV-only range.

When combined, fuel economy is strong at up to 44 mpg in the city and 37 mpg while highway driving, so you can truly make the most of every mile.
