Compare the Ford Maverick XL vs. XLT
With its unrivaled performance, eye-catching aesthetics, and affordable running cost, the 2022 Ford Maverick has established itself as a formidable new contender in the compact pickup truck segment. The Maverick offers exceptional versatility to the users and has all the bells and whistles of a modern and technologically-advanced vehicle.Â
The 2022 Ford Maverick is offered in three trim levels—XL, XLT, and Lariat. In this post, we will go through the various features and specifications of the XL and XLT trim to determine which one would best suit your needs.Â
Maverick XL TrimÂ
Equipped with all the essential features, the XL is the entry-level trim of the value-packed Maverick lineup. The truck has a spacious and comfortable interior with loads of leg and headroom for the driver and passengers. The dashboard is simple yet practical and features an 8-inch touchscreen that supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The 12V power outlets are available at the front and rear, and the back seats have under-seat storage bins.Â
The LED headlamps are standard and have an Autolamp feature that automatically turns them on and off. Additionally, a tilt and telescopic steering wheel are available that allows you to adjust the steering wheel for a comfortable driving posture. The Ford Maverick XL trim gives its users the freedom to easily connect their smart devices while on the road, thanks to a built-in 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot. The audio controls are conveniently placed on the steering wheel, and the rearview camera provides effortless and safe reversing on your Ford pickup truck. Other salient features of the XL trim include Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB), Post-Collision Braking, Keyless Entry, Multi-Position Tailgate, and an optional Ford Co-Pilot360 Package.Â
As far as performance is concerned, the Maverick XL trim comes standard with a hybrid powertrain that combines a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with a powerful electric motor to produce an astounding 191 horsepower and 155 pound-feet of torque. Another available option is a turbocharged 2.0-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine capable of generating an overwhelming 250 horsepower and 277 pound-feet of torque. The hybrid powertrain is coupled with a continuously variable transmission (CVT), whereas the EcoBoost is mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox.Â
Front-wheel drive is standard across the Maverick lineup, with all-wheel drive available. The XL trim can also haul heavy loads effortlessly, owing to its impressive towing capacity of 2,000 lbs.Â
Maverick XLT TrimÂ
The XLT trim shares the same powertrain, transmission, and towing capacity as the XL variant; however, in addition to all the features included in the XL trim, it has a myriad of added luxury amenities that take it a notch above the XL trim.Â
The most apparent difference between the two variants is the 17-inch painted aluminum wheels that give the XLT trim a much more upscale and stylish appearance. Furthermore, the XLT variant gets power mirrors with integrated blind-spot monitoring instead of manual side mirrors.Â
The driver’s door has a Ford SecuriCode Keyless Entry Keypad that allows you to lock or unlock your truck by entering a code, while the inclusion of the cruise control improves the overall driving comfort.Â
The XLT model comes with FLEXBED and Ford’s Integrated Tether System—the most innovative truck Ford has ever created. The bed has storage cubbies and ten tie-down spots that allow you to carry your cargo safely and securely. Moreover, the seats and center armrest are upholstered in unique, plush fabric, and a power-locking tailgate is also incorporated. For added comfort, you can also opt for the XLT Luxury Package, which adds a few more amenities, including heated front seats, an eight-way power driver seat, USB ports at the back, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel.Â
