Mustang GTD Engine & Performance

The Mustang GTD is powered by a supercharged 5.2-liter V8 engine that provides pure pony-car thrills with an estimated 800+ horsepower and a targeted top speed of 190+ mph. All this power is sent through a lightweight carbon fiber driveshaft to a rear-mounted 8-speed dual-clutch transmission for near 50/50 weight distribution, which results in responsive handling and enhanced performance. This sophisticated powertrain and a targeted sub-7-minute Nürburgring time make the GTD the fastest roadgoing Mustang ever.

Achieving a sub-7-minute lap time at the Nürburgring Nordschleife, one of the world’s most challenging and respected racetracks, is a monumental feat. This benchmark is often used to measure a vehicle’s ultimate performance capability. The Nürburgring, with its 12.9 miles of twisting turns, elevation changes, and diverse surfaces, tests every aspect of a car’s engineering. For the Mustang GTD to target such a lap time, it must excel in acceleration, braking, cornering grip, and aerodynamic efficiency.

Track-ready Supercar Capability

The new Ford Mustang GTD brings race car characteristics to the road with its vented hood, Akrapovič titanium exhaust, available forged magnesium wheels, multi-purpose front fender vents, front splitter, and rear diffuser. The standard carbon fiber body panels help reduce weight, and the C-pillar mounted aero rear wing generates immense downforce.

Ford has outfitted the GTD with 325 mm front and 345 mm rear Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires for better road grip and cornering stability. Behind those are the Brembo carbon ceramic brakes, which offer superior stopping power and a shorter braking distance.

To further optimize performance at demanding corners, the all-new GTD is the first Mustang ever to feature a dry sump oil system. This system enhances oil capacity and reliability, ensuring the engine remains well-lubricated even under extreme conditions—a critical feature for a car like the GTD that excels in high-speed, sharp turns.

State-of-the-art Suspension

The Mustang GTD rides on a first-of-its-kind semi-active suspension that can adjust spring rate and ride height to match track or street conditions. The short-long arm front suspension is cleverly designed to enhance lateral stiffness in high-G cornering. This is complemented by a highly advanced rear suspension that uses Multimatic Adaptive Spool Valve dampers to provide matchless stability, precise handling, and maximum ride comfort on roadways and racetracks. Additionally, the Track Mode — when activated — lowers the ride height by 40 mm, ensuring improved handling and aerodynamic efficiency.

Mustang GTD Interior & Connectivity

Inside, the new Mustang GTD boasts a refined and tech-rich cockpit adorned with soft-touch leather and carbon fiber details. Vibrant interior color combinations enable the users to add a personalized touch to the cabin, and RECARO seats with Miko suede are carefully crafted for track day fun.

The immersive dual display combines a 12.4-inch LCD digital cluster with a 13.2-inch center touchscreen to keep drivers informed, connected, and fully in command. To give occupants a fighter jet-like feel inside the cabin, various components like the rotary dial shifter, serial plate, and available 3D-printed paddle shifters are all derived from retired Lockheed Martin F-22 titanium parts.
