Power & Performance Behind the 2022 Ford Escape
There are four unique powertrains available within the 2022 Ford Escape lineup. The 1.5-liter EcoBoost® engine and 8-Speed Automatic Transmission come standard-Producing a horsepower of 181 and 190 pound-feet of torque. The new Escape has a maximum towing capacity of up to 3,500 lbs when equipped with the Class II Trailer Tow Package. Those looking for a bump in power will appreciate the 2.0-liter EcoBoost turbo and its 250 horsepower with 280 pound-feet of torque and all-wheel-drive capability.
Two-hybrid powertrains are available, both of which combine a 2.5-liter four-cylinder combustion engine with an 88kW electric motor. The standard Ford Escape hybrid and plug-in hybrid models offer a horsepower of around 200 and 155 pound-feet of torque combined with a maximum towing capability of 1,500 lbs. With its best-in-class fuel economy rating, the hybrid 2.5L iVCT Atkinson-cycle I-4 engine creates a perfect middle ground between the Ford gas and hybrid powertrains. However, the plug-in hybrid gives you up to 37 miles of electric-only range for a fuel-free driving experience.

This vehicle also offers an available All-Wheel Drive Disconnect, which can provide optimal traction in all conditions and then disconnect to provide front-wheel-drive to save on gas. The Escape also offers selectable drive modes so that you can enjoy a customized ride.
